The story of ‘Go Beyond Beyond’ T-shirt
The dramatic artwork for ‘Go Beyond Beyond’ captures the rugged terrain and snowy peaks of a mountain landscape, but with a twist. For layered in the snow is the face of Buddha. Which did you see first?!
The phrase Go Beyond Beyond is inspired by the Prajna Paramita mantra which closes the Buddhist Heart Sutra, or the Heart of the Great Wisdom Sutra. The mantra is stated: gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate, bodhi svaha. Broadly ‘Prajna’ means wisdom while ‘Paramita’ means a crossing over, or going beyond. Therefore a loose translation of the mantra is ‘gone, gone, gone beyond, gone utterly beyond, Enlightenment hail’.
The mountain imagery of the Go Beyond Beyond invites you to climb high into landscapes of emptiness. The Heart Sutra is also about the realisation that all things are essentially empty, and within that emptiness lies liberation. Essentially it points us to let go of our preconceived notions, opinions and attachments of how things ‘should’ be and be open the wonder of life ‘as it is’.

This T-shirt should be washed inside out on a cool cycle. Organic cotton should never see the inside of your tumble dryer, air drying is best! Never iron directly onto the hand screen printed graphics – iron the garment inside out or use a clean cloth as a barrier.

I love this T-shirt. Great colour,`fab design and it washes really well. (I’ve been wearing it a lot). I acquired it from the Earth Monk stall at the Larmer Tree Festival and was really impressed with not only the quality of their products but the whole ethos behind the company. Clothing with soul indeed.
