This phrase is inspired by the ancient and auspicious Indian mantra Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu and can be translated as “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and deeds of my own life contribute towards the happiness and freedom of all”. This mantra also forms part of the closing prayer within the western Ashtanga Yoga system.
